Arsenal Rumours and Transfers

Raul Meireles has come out before Fenerbahce’s Champions League play-off against Arsenal and said that the Premier League club have all the pressure on them.

Sky Sports reported that the former Chelsea midfielder believes that the pressure is on Arsenal ahead of the crucial play-offs.

Arsenal have faced a difficult start to the season, losing their opening game in the Premier League to Aston Villa, having numerous players out injured, and failing to make any significant signings in the transfer window.

Meireles, therefore, is hoping that Fenerbahce can stay in the tie so they have something to play for when they play the return game at the Emirates next week, the article revealed.

The article reported comments made by the Portuguese midfielder on the pressure facing Arsenal in the Mirror, “The pressure is on Arsenal and that gives us a little advantage in a game which is 50-50.”

He added, “Arsenal are difficult opponents but we’re also a tough opponent for them. This tie will be very level, very well matched.”

He also revealed that it was key for Fenerbahce to stay in contact with Arsenal until the second leg, “Our key is to go to London with a tight score line. I’ve had some good experiences in London and I believe if the result is within reach then we can go through.”

Arsenal will be desperate to kick-start their season in the play-off on Wednesday and qualify for the Champions League proper for the 16th consecutive season.
